It’s been a while since I’ve posted the latest installment of our regular “What Would Barley Chew?” feature here at Not Quite. NOT because she hasn’t given us ample opportunity, but because most times she’s completely eaten the evidence before I could get a picture. In the past month or so we’ve lost stuffed animals, socks, and more trash out of the trash can than I can count.
This week:

It’s good to know she’ll have strong bones and healthy, flossed teeth, if nothing else.
On her good points, she scarfed down an entire piece of Oreo Cookie Ice Cream dessert tonight, when I dropped my plate and spilled the entire thing on the carpet. Licked it clean.
Luckily, we had already made arrangements to have the carpets cleaned this Wednesday, because this house? Smells like D.O.G.

I love my 11 year old dog, and I love my 2 cats – 12 years old and 6 months old, but I hate hate hate that “pet” smell in houses. I used to go to a friend’s house growing up, and her family had pets, and the house stunk like pet. I loved her, but the smell of her house grossed me out. I swore that I’d have pets but my house would never smell – and I do my darndest so that doesn’t happen. I even ask my close friends (who would totally tell me) if my house smells like cat or dog. Good luck with the carpet cleaning

Ahhhh, it’s a dog’s life. Hopefully, one of your readers will give great advice that we can use. Our Henry the Beagle has taken to chewing/eating EVERYTHING in sight, including custom-made blinds and the baseboards/molding from our less than a year old house. It’s a good thing he’s so stinking cute!

It is the Star94 Cares for Kids Telethon this weekend and I always think of you guys when it’s on. They are at Scottish Rite this year and these stories are so touching!! It seems like such a long time ago that you guys were there, going through treatments and so many were following you on Caringbridge. Now you have an incredible, HEALTHY girl!!! AMAZING!! Thank you for the inspiration you are to so many!! Actually, your entire family is an inspiration!! (And hysterically funny!!

Wow, I feel the pain! Last weekend it was a pumpkin pie on the cooling rack for us…And it had been pushed back to a far what-I-thought-was-safe spot in the kitchen.

Ahh yes, we used to have a dog that did that. Stupid animal it was. Your house sounds awesomely fun!

Barley and Hank really ought to get together. Another reason we should all move to Ohio!

A friend of mine has a similar issue with her dog, but she mainly targets the kids’ stuffed animals. She’s decided it is a good feature in her dog — she regularly helps get rid of the stuffed creatures that seem to multiply in a household of children.
I really am sorry though. It would drive me crazy! I hope your carpets stay clean. Happy weekend.

A friend of mine has 2 labs…a few weeks ago one required emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction. Turned out they found that missing pair of Victorias Secrets panties

I’ll see you the milk jug and raise you a razor cartridge I took away from my two just last week. Covered garbage cans came home the next day…
