Snowklahoma

27 January 2010 | Music,Winter

Well, as I look out my window, at the sunny day, with a temp of almost sixty degrees, its hard to believe the weathermen have forecasted a winter storm tonight, complete with freezing rain, tons of ice, and 4 to 7 inches of snow.

Really?

But in case they are right, its good to have a jump on things.  So I present our new state song, below:

SNOW…….klahoma
Where the cold front’s sweepin’ down the plain
And the piles of sleet, beneath your feet
Follow right behind the freezing rain.

SNOW…….klahoma
Ev’ry night my honey lamb and I
Travel home from work and hope some jerk
Doesn’t wreck our car in passing by!

We know we belong to the land
But it could use some more salt and more sand

That’s why we say…..HEY!
We’re sliding the other way…….YIKES!

We’re only sayin’
You’re slick as snot SNOWklahoma
SNOWklahoma, SNOW-K!

BRILLIANT! And may I just say, better you than me this time. We have had THREE, count ‘em THREE, shut down the road and the schools for at least two days storms this season. NO MAS!!!!

Hope you don’t get too much ice and keep your power on the whole time. Stock up the groceries and enjoy the snow day!

Love the song! Can you write one for Iowa. At least you have a good outlook even though the weather is crappy. But what else can we do but make the best out of this “global warming”.

Oh my gosh… my eight year old was reading over my shoulder just now and asked me “mom, what’s Snowklahoma?” We proceeded to sing your song together and laugh our little heads off! Too cute!

BTW, we’re Okies too… getting a little annoyed at all the panic.

I live in the Texas Panhandle-its suppose to start with freezing rain from 2 am to 9 am then turn into heavy snow until about 5 p.m. Predicting 12-18 inches! Of course I’ll believe it when I actually see it!

Lynne, I’d love to take credit, but I didn’t write this one, either! :) Kristie

I second the BRILLIANT comment. Maybe you have a future in writing jingles! Sorry for the snow, but better you than me…

I love the song Kristie! And it has a much better ring to it than ‘SNOW-braska’! LOL (However,we STILL have snow on the ground from our Christmas day blizzard!! We might be able to get the Christmas lights down by April or May) Be sure to stock up on DDP!

Kristi – Totally not about snow. But just found a way to get a discount at Sonic and do a little roundball trash talking. The discount is random (mine was 99 cents for chili cheese tater tots)and I don’t have a Sonic near me. But I thought Sonic = Kristi. Enjoy!

ended up with 1/2 inch ice with 12 inches on top of that-how’d you guys end up?

We’re suppose to get around 9 inches where I live in Tn. We haven’t had this much since 2003. It should be fun. Normally we don’t even get enough to go sledding. Just enough to make everyone act crazy!
